1)            ASSISTANT ENGINEER ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE ON GRAFT CHARGE.
Today i.e. on 17.10.2017, Sri Ramakant Tarai, Assistant Engineer (AE), Jatani Block, Dist. Khurda was arrested by the Officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division, while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.3,000/- from the Complt. Sri Muralidhar Behera of Botanda, PS. Air Field, Bhubaneswar, Dist. Khurda for preparation of bill relating to construction of compound wall of Orakal Botonda UGUP School.
The gist of the case is that Sri Behera was issued with work order No. 2610 dt. 05.08.2017 amounting to Rs. 60,000/- for construction of compound wall of Orakal Botonda UGUP School. On completion of the construction work, he approached Sri Tarai, Asst. Engineer, Jatani Block to inspect the work site and take measurement of the work for preparation of bill.  Sri Tarai took the measurement on 13.10.2017, but demanded Rs. 3,000/- to prepare the bill. Finding no other option, Sri Behera reported the matter to S.P., Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division. 
Accordingly, a trap was laid today i.e. 17.10.2017 at about 10.30 AM. The accused SriTaraiA.E. was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.3,000/- from the Complt. Sri Behera near OMFED booth situated on Bhubaneswar-Jatani road,. The bribe money has been recovered from his possession. His hand & pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe. Accused Sri Tarai has been arrested and forwarded to the Court. His residential house at Plot No.1195, Sector-VI, CDA, Cuttack is being searched.
              In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance P.S. case No. 49  dt. 16.10.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.

2)        SENIOR CLERK CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE.

Today i.e. on 17.10.2017, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore convicted Sri Rajendra Sahu, Vill. Sana Ata, PO. Raj Nilagiri, PS. Nilagiri, Dist. Balasore, Ex-Sr. Clerk, O/o Tahasildar Nilagiri, PS. Nilagiri, Dist. Balasore and sentenced him to undergo R.I for a period of 01 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for a period of 02 months for the offence  U/s 7 P.C.Act, 1988. He further sentenced him to undergo R.I for a period of 02 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for a period of 03 months for the offence U/s 13(1) (d) P.C. Act. 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
          Sri Rajendra Sahu was convicted in Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.18 dt.28.05.2008 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1) (d) / 7/12 P.C.Act, 1988/120-B IPC registered for demanding bribe of Rs. 2,000/- for issuance of work order and transit pass book for operation of stone quarry.                                                                                                                                                                                     
           Sk. Haziruddin, Spl. P.P, Vigilance Court, Balasore conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.Sri Saroj Kumar Samal, Ex-Inspector of Police Vigilance, Balasore was the Investigating Officer of the case.
