04 CONVICTIONS IN VIGILANCE CASES IN ONE DAY I.E ON 25.10.2017

(i)   GRAM PANCHAYAT EXECUTIVE OFFICER CONVICTED ON GRAFT CHARGE.
On 25.10.2017, Sri Duryodhan Mishra, Ex-Gram Panchayat Executive Officer, Badachana Block, Dist.Jajpur was found guilty by the Hon’ble Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack in connection with Cuttack Vigilance P.S. Case No.08/2004 for demanding illegal gratification of Rs.1,000/- from the complt. Sri Gobinda Chandra Moharana to discontinue enquiry initiated against him relating to cancellation of lease of Siha Gram Pancyayat Tank, which was taken by him for pisciculture purpose. Sri Mishra was sentenced to undergo R.I for 02 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for 04 months on each count for the offences U/s 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.  Sentences are to run concurrently.

(ii) RECORD KEEPER CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE. 
On 25.10.2017, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh convicted Sri Bharat Chandra Mahanta, Ex-Record Keeper, Tahasil Office, Bonai, Dist. Sunadargarh in connection with Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.24/2003 for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.1,400/- from the Complt. to issue Patta.  Sri Mahanta was sentenced to undergo R.I for a period of 02 years and to pay fine of Rs.10,000, in default, to undergo R.I for a period of 03 months for the offence  U/s 13(2)/ r/w 13(I)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo R.I for a period of 01 year and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for a period of 01 month for the offence U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act. 1988. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
  
(iii)      ASSISTANT ENGINEER CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE FOR POSSESSION OF DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS.
On 25.10.2017, the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore convicted Sri Balakrushna Panda, Ex-JE, RWS&S Section, Koraput, A/p. Asst. Engineer, RWS&S, Paralakhemundi in connection with Koraput Vigilance P.S.Case No.27/2008 for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs.14,36,280/-.  Sri Panda was sentenced to undergo R.I for a period of 02 years and to pay fine of Rs.50,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for 06 months for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

(iv)      GRAM PANCHAYAT SECRETARY CONVICTED IN VIGILANCE CASE.
On 25.10.2017, the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur convicted Sri K.Sriramulu Rao, Ex-Secretary, Palibandha Gram Panchayat under Ganjam Block, Dist. Ganjam in connection with Berhampur Vigilance P.S.Case No.08/2004 for producing fake H.S.C. Examination Certificate and showing false date of birth for his appointment. Sri Rao was  sentenced to undergo R.I for a period of 02 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000, in default, to undergo R.I for a period of 03 months for the offence  U/s 13(2)/ r/w 13(1)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988/468/420 IPC. The Hon’ble Court further sentenced him to undergo R.I for a period of 01 year and to pay fine of Rs.1,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for a period of 01 month for the offence U/s 471 IPC. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.

REPORT FOLLOWING HOUSE SEARCH OF SRI TRINATH SAHU, PANCHAYAT EXECUTIVE OFFICER, KENDUPATI GRAM PANCHAYATA UNDER BHAWANIPATNA BLOCK, DIST-KALAHANDI.
              Basing on the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Trinath Sahu, Panchayat Executive Officer, Kendupati Gram Panchayata under Bhawanipatna Block, Dist-Kalahandi, his           (1) residential building at Nuapada, Bhawanipatna, Dist-Kalahandi, (2) G.P. Office at Village Kendupati under Bhawanipatna Block, (3) G.P. Office at Village Godabhata under Bhawanipatna Block and (4) house of his younger brother at Nuapada, Bhawanipatna, Dist-Kalahandi were simultaneously searched today  i.e. on 26.10.2017  by the Officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division on the strength of search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court.
                   Sri Sahu entered into Govt. service in the year 1985 as Panchayat Secretary with a pay scale of Rs.500/- and now designated as Panchyat Executive Officer and receiving gross and net salary amounting to Rs.30,000/- and 20,000/- respectively.
                   During search, the following approximate movable and immovable assets have been traced out from the possession of Sri Sahu and his family members.
