Disaster Management Programme by NDRF at DAV Public School, Pokhariput
Bhubaneswar, 23 October 2017: A very educative programme on disaster management was
organised by 3 rd Battalion, NDRF, Mundali, Cuttack in the premises of DAV Public School,
Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar.
The team from NDRF led by officer D.K. Pandey,Inspector,NDRF,3 rd Battalion , Mundali,
Cuttack demonstrated various first- aid techniques and rescue operations to the students
and the staff. They highlighted the importance of preparedness for disaster during school
hours. They explained how mock drill helps a community to deal with a disaster in a very
prompt, spontaneous and coordinated manner with very minimal casualty. A mock drill on
safe evacuation from a disaster site during calamities was also witnessed by the students of
the school under the expert guidance & supervision of the NDRF team. The officers of NDRF
displayed and oriented the students & staff about various home improvised equipment used
at the time of flood and other hazards. Use of ropes in safe rescue of victims from tall
buildings was a quite interesting and motivating drill for the students.
The programme was chaired by Dr(Ms) Sujata, Principal, DAV Public School, Pokhariput.
Mr. S.M. Dash,2 nd Officer NCC(Air wing ),Mr. P.S. Rao,3 rd Officer NCC( Army wing) ,other NCC
officers Mr. B.M.Mohanty,Mrs. S.Nayak& Mrs. S Rout, Mr. A.R. Dash,Dept. of Social
Scienceand Mr. S P Mohanty, Dept of Hindicoordinated the programme. The programme
was highly appreciated by the students and staff.
