OFFICE OF DIRECTOR-CUM-ADDL.D.G OF POLICE, VIGILANCE, ODISHA, CUTTACK.

(i) DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE ON GRAFT CHARGE.
On 25.10.2017, Sri Jasobanta Narayan Choudhury, Deputy General Manager (DGM), EHT (Operation & Maintenance) Division, Baripada, Dist. Mayurbhanj was caught red handed by the Officers of Vigilance, Balasore Division, while demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.3,000/- from the Complt. Sri Kartikeswar Dutta, S/o Gorura Charan Dutta, Vill. Kanhupur, PS. Kuliana, Dist. Mayurbhanj to pass the bill in respect of hire charges of Bolero bearing Registration No. OD11-K-6114, which was engaged in the Division office.
The gist of the case is that one Bolero bearing Registration No. OD11-K-6114, which has been registered in the name of the sister of the complt. was engaged in the O/o the Deputy General Manager, EHT, (O&M), Division Baripada on hire basis and she was supposed to get the hire charges for the months of August and September-2017. The Complt. Sri Dutta requested the accused Sri Choudhury to release the hire charges, who demanded Rs.5,000/- for the above purpose, but after negotiation, the accused agreed to release the hire charges after receiving bribe of Rs.3,000/- Finding no other option, the Complt. reported the matter to S.P, Vigilance, Balasore Division.   
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 25.10.2017 at about 10.30 A.M.  Sri Choudhury, DGM was caught red handed in his office chamber, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.3,000/- from the Complt. Sri Dutta. The bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Sri Choudhury and seized in presence of witnesses. His hand and shirt pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction confirming acceptance of bribe. His office room, rented house at Baripada Town and house at Prachi Vihar, Palasuni, Bhubaneswar are being searched to unearth possession of disproportionate assets. Sri Choudhury has been arrested and forwarded to the Court.
                   In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. case No.53 dt.24.10.2017 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.
(ii) GRAM PANCHAYAT EXECUTIVE OFFICER CONVICTED ON GRAFT CHARGE.

On 25.10.2017, Sri Duryodhan Mishra, Ex-Gram Panchayat Executive Officer, Badachana Block, Dist.Jajpur was found guilty by the Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack and was sentenced to undergo R.I for 02 years and to pay fine of Rs.5,000/-, in default, to undergo R.I for 04 months on each count for the offences U/s 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the P.C. Act.  Sentences are to run concurrently.
The gist of the case is that Cuttack Vigilance P.S.Case No.42 dt.07.11.2007 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 P.C.Act was registered on the written report of Sri Gobinda Chandra Moharana, S/o Babaji Moharana, Village-Kolhasingh, P.S-Badachana, Dist. Jajpur against the accused Sri Duryodhan Mishra, Ex-GPO, Badachana Block for demanding illegal gratification of Rs.1,000/- to discontinue enquiry regarding cancellation of lease of Siha Gram Pancyayat Tank under Badachana Block, which was taken by the complt. for pisciculture purpose. On completion of investigation, charge sheet was placed against Sri Mishra to face trial.
Sri Bharat Chandra Sethi, Ex-Inspector of Police, Cuttack division investigated into the case and Sri J.M.Das, Spl. P.P, Vigilance Court, Cuttack presented the case on behalf of the prosecution.
(iii) REPORT FOLLOWING HOUSE SEARCH OF SRI PRASANTA KUMAR SAHOO, FOREST RANGE OFFICER, BUGUDA RANGE, GANJAM.
              Basing on the allegation of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Prasanta Kumar Sahoo, Forest Range Officer, Buguda Range, Ganjam, his (1) triple storied building at Bhanjanagar, (2) another double storied building at Bhanjanagar, (3) Father-in-law’s house at Badabirosinghi, P.S-Gangapur and (4) Office room as well as residential quarter situated inside the premises of Buguda Forest Range, Buguda were simultaneously searched today  i.e. on 25.10.2017  by the Officers of Vigilance  Berhampur Division  on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court.  
                    During search, the following approximate movable and immovable assets have been traced out from the possession of Sri Sahoo and his family members.

(iv) REPORT FOLLOWING HOUSE SEARCH OF SRI AMARESH PATRA, RTO, BALASORE.
Basing on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Amaresh Patra, RTO, Balasore, simultaneous  house searches were conducted in his (1) residential building located at Bidanasi, Cuttack, (2) Paternal house at Firikidandi, Kendrapara, (3) Father in law’s house at Kuleilo, Cuttack, (4) rented house of brother in law at Kalinga Chhaka, Choudwar, Cuttack, (5) Office room of Saraswata Petrol pump, Choudwar, Cuttack, (6) residential flat at Prava Apartment at Madhusudan Nagar, BBSR, (7) residential rented house at Angargadia, Balasore, (8) Officer room of RTO, Balasore located at Balasore and (9) Hotel Odian at Rampee, Cuttack on 25.10.2017 by the Officers of Cuttack Vigilance Division, Cuttack on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. During house search, the following assets have been found from the possession of Sri Patra and his family members.
