Inauguration of 65th Odisha Police Duty Meet - 2017
The 65th edition of Odisha Police Duty Meet 2017 has been inaugurated today by
Dr. R.P.Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police, Odisha at Reserve Police Ground,
Buxibazar, Cuttack. Dr. Sharma received the ceremonial salute in a colourful parade
organised exclusively for the purpose. Speaking on the occasion DGP said "Criminal
Investigation is an important function of Police. Traditional method of investigation
has lost its importance and value. With the change of time, many new and complex
crimes are being committed. Cyber Crime, Organised Crimes and Economic
offences are challenges to the Police. We have to upgrade our professional skill and
knowledge to match the changing time. We have to adopt scientific methods of
investigation to solve the complex criminal problems" added DGP.
As many as 187 competitors and 21 K-Nine (Dogs) from 37 Police Districts
are participating in this mega annual event. Out of this there are 40 Inspectors, 48
Sub-Inspectors, 43 ASIs and 56 Constables who are participating in different events
of the Duty Meet.
The Duty Meet which is scheduled to be held for three days will witness
competitions in varied policing subjects like Observation and Police Portrait,
Scientific Aid to Investigation, Medico Legal Test, Finger Print Identification, Lifting -
Packing and Forwarding of Exhibit, Photography, DNA Finger Printing, Technical
Surveillance, Cyber Crimes, Laws & Rules and Computer Awareness Test etc. The
successful competitors will be selected to participate in the All India Police Duty
Meet. Hon'ble Chief Minister will be the Chief Guest in the valedictory function on
18.9.2017.
Sh. Asit Panigrahi, I.G of Police State Crime Branch was on the dais in the
inaugural function and gave his welcome address. Many Senior Officer of State
Police and some Retd. Police Officers were present in this inaugural programme.
