In his first video conference with all SsP, Range DIsGP/ IGsP on 20.9.2017 after assuming charge of DGP. Dr. R.P.Sharma out-lined the thrust areas for the State Police. He listed out the importance of
maintenance of law and order, prevention and detection of crime and drive against anti-socials and mafias in the video conferencing. People friendly attitude and welfare of the police personnel are
some of his core priorities – he emphasised. He also advised the Senior Officers to be empathetic and co-ordial while dealing with members of public. He stressed on the importance of prompt grievance redressal of the public at the cutting-edge level i.e at the Police Station. While enumerating various basic responsibilities to be carried out by the police towards public and building the capacity of Odisha Police, he wanted the Senior Police officers to collectively develop a vision for Odisha Police with long and short term goals. On the eve of puja festival he directed all the District SsP to conduct special drive against anti social elements. Senior officers of State Police were present during this video conferencing.
