FORESTER ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE ON GRAFT CHARGE.

On 11.09.2017, Sri Amit Kumar Das, Forester, Section In-charge, Kosagumuda, Forest Section, Nabarangpur was arrested by the Officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- from Sri Debendra Patra of Vill/PS-Kosagumuda, Dist- Nabarangapur to submit the report to the senior Forest Officer to facilitate release of the seized tractor.  

The gist of the case is that Sri Ratan Bindhani, driver of tractor bearing Regd. No. OD24-B-5099 took the tractor to his land situated inside the reserve Forest along with his brother Sri Dambaru Bindhani for cultivation without informing either Smt. Binita Patra, owner of the tractor her husband Sri Patra.  When Sri Amit Dash, Forester came to know about it, he seized the tractor and registered a forest offence case in the name of Sri Bindhani, driver and his brother vide Forest Offence Case No.2(b)CC/15/2017 and forwarded them in judicial custody.  After their release on bail, the Complit. Sri Patra went to Kodinga Forest Range office and requested the accused Sri Das, forester to submit the report to the Senior Forest Officer to facilitate release of the seized tractor.  On this, Sri Das demanded Rs.10,000/- from the Complt. for the above purpose.  Finding no other option, the Complt. reported the matter to S.P. Vigilance, Koraput Division for necessary action.     

Accordingly, a trap was laid on 11.09.2017 at about 02.50 PM. The accused Sri Das, Forester was caught red handed in his office room in the O/o Range Officer, Kodinga Range, Dist. Nabarangpur while demanding and accepting bribe Rs.10,000/- from the complt. Sri Patra. The bribe money has been recovered from the working table of Sri Das. His residential Govt. quarter situated at Kosagumuda, Dist- Nabarangpur is being searched. Sri Das has been arrested and will be forwarded to the court. 

                        In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. case No.39 dt. 11.09.2017 U/s  7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered.
