SOUTH ASIAN YOUTH SUMMIT(SAYS) 2017 - YOUTH , A STEP FORWARD
The 1 st South Asian Youth Summit 2017 begins in the smart city of Bhubaneswar, India on 17 th of
September 2017 with an aim to explore the South Asian Youth to contribute in making this world
inclusive one . Except India, Bangladesh, Nepal , Bhutan, Srilanka, Maldives , Nigeria , Kenya , Burma
are also Part of the summit and the summit will conclude on 20 th Sep 2017 .
Addressing the summit, DG NYKS, Govt. of India , Major General DS Singh Said that a country can
never defeat, if the youth is involved in decision making. Youth the identity of power & unity.
It is a pride that India is a country of youth. youth has extreme power so they can forward and give
their positive contribution for betterment of society. Every dignity of different countries has
portrayed their contributions, in their countries as lesson for the young delegate present at SAYS-
2017 .
The dignitaries present at the inaugural session were : Chief guest – (Jayanta Patra (Hon’ble
president , IYC) , Sri Munna Kumar (National convenor, IYC),Major general DS singh (Director General
, NYKS,minister of youth affairs & sports , govt. of India ) ,Irom Sarmila (iconic human right activist),
Mr. Mohammed Abdul Raziq “salar” acting deputy minister of social affairs, govt. of Afghanistan) ,
Prof. Chandan Ghosh , (Head,NIDM , Ministry of home affairs, Govt. of India) , Prof. Ram boojh,
(National Programme Specialist, UNESCO , Chief Secretary of Odisha) ,Dr. Ranjendra Shinde, (Lead
Author of the IPCC that received the ‘Nobel Peaceprize 2007’), Mr Mohamed Maliki Mohamed
rapiee (honable Secretary General, Asian Youth Council),HE Mr. George Mkondiwa, (malawai high
commissioner to india) , HE Mr. Jagdish goburdhon , High commissioner of Mauritius to India)
Dr. K K Singh, the founder & chairma , has expressed the journey of IYC for the last 10yrs, and
expressed his deep concern for the delegates of Pakistan & Myamar not being able to attend the
summit . He said,“we will continue promoting peace and unity among the youth for the Years
remained in our lives.”
Irom sharmila, an iconic human right activist expressed his emotions and concerns of the militaries
activities and motivated the youth to respect and love each other. To support her, other delegates
and activist have given their valuable points and thoughts on youth activities in order to bring the
prosperity with 3 Y’s – you, youth & you all.
