SHRI MANOJ SINHA, HON’BLE UNION MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATION (I/C) AND MINISTER OF STATE FOR RAILWAYS TO LAUNCH PASSENGER AMENITIES AND LAY THE FOUNDATION STONE OF ROB ON 23RD AUGUST.
Bhubaneswar, 22.08.2017: Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications (Independent Charge) and Minister of State for Railways, Govt of India will visit East Coast Railway on 22nd & 23rd August 2017. During his visit he will lay the Foundation Stone of Road Over Bridge (RoB) at Khetarajpur (Sambalpur), Flag off Train on Electric Traction from Sambalpur on newly Electrified Section of Sambalpur & Jharsuguda and Commission Wi-Fi Services at Khurda Road Railway Station through video conferencing from Bhubaneswar at 1030hrs on 23.08.2017.
Shri Sinha is expected to review the performance of the Railway and the progress of various infrastructure related projects which are crucial to the industrial development of Odisha and Northern Andhra Pradesh. He has always laid highest emphasis on passenger amenities at Stations and on-board services on trains. He gives importance to local aspirations and needs of various regions with focus on connecting unconnected regions.
Shri Sinha has visited Odisha and East Coast Railway a number of times and reviewed the position of Railway works in progress. Based on the feedback he received from East Coast Region, a number of positive policy measures were immediately initiated by Ministry of Railways. Shri Sinha had also earlier advised for speedy completion of pending Railway Projects like Khurda-Balangir line during his visit. He had taken special interest and had assured that funds would not be an issue for any Railway Project in Odisha, during his last visit to Odisha.
